So I've wanted a good mic for a while now, but i think the type i want doesn't seem to exist. I'd like to have an earpiece that is mic only no audio and that is wired not wireless. I've looked for ages but the only things i can find are things like blue yetti's and that type isn't gonna work for me. I don't care what type of input it uses USB, coaxial, optical it doesn't matter i just wanna get this darn thing. Do you guys know of any good ones out there or is this just a wild goose chase? thanks!

Solution
it`s usualy used with a wireless system, but you can wire it straight into your system
But i think you will need a USB mixer with phantom power (48V) since its a condenser mic.
https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-Xenyx-Q1002USB-Audio-Mixer/dp/B008O516LA/ref=sr_1_9?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1516654161&sr=1-9&keywords=usb+mixer

again, not THE ONE,.. but it should point you in the right direction
you can use one with less channels, since right now you only seem to need the 1 MIC with phantom
this one has 10 lines in,..

the Behringer XENYX Q502USB has 5 lines in (1 mic, and 2x2 aux) and is usualy the halve of the price, but i cant find it on amazon

That's a decent mic, although i'd prefer something a bit more high end but i'll gladly get this one if i can't find anything else.

No problem, glad i could help.
Just to make sure. you dont specificly need one of those mixers, as long as you get a USB mixer (wich will show up as a sound card to your computer) with phantom power, since phantom power is needed for a condenser mic.

Sorry but I just thought of something. My sound card has a 6.3 mm jack is there anything that uses that type of jack?

Could you tell me what soundcard you have??
most of thes types of mics (the decent ones atleas) are condencer mics.
and there arent many soundcards that provide the phantom power you need for that

sorry, but no.
i checked out your soundcard, and tho it seems like a very good card, it can not provide a mic with phantom power.
So you need to either go : Mic -> pre-amp -> soundcard
or like my original suggestion : Mic -> USB-mixer ((with phantom) wich by-passes your soundcard compleetly.

the pluss on the second option is that you end up with a couple of extra inputs, so you`ll have space to grow if you ever want to hook up extra soundsources.

What are you going to use it for?

I'd rather not bypass the soundcard that sort of defeats the purpose but I'm gonna primarily use the mic for recording game play commentaries for YouTube and twich although I'll also use it for communication with my friends when we play together

while it might look like a shame to bypass an pretty good soundcard like that, it wasnt made for work like that.
But if you realy want to hook something up to the soundcard, you could go with this thing:

https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-802-Premium-8-Input-Preamps/dp/B000J5XS3C/ref=sr_1_16?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1516949270&sr=1-16&keywords=mic+preamp

It is the NON-usb version of the mixer i linked earlier
you hook up the Main-out from the mixer to the line in from your soundcard with a cable like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-STP-204-inch-Insert-Cable/dp/B000068O1Q/ref=sr_1_7?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1516950110&sr=1-7&keywords=1%2F4-Inch+Male+Stereo+to+Dual+1%2F4-Inch+Male+Mono+Y-Cable

but personaly i would go with the usb one, the analog cables are a lot more sensitive to signal degradation.

What do you mean it wasn't made for it? Will i damage it?

nah, nothing as extreem like that
it`s more like using a cheap notebook for playing highend games,.. you wont kill the laptop, but it will never run those games as good as you would want to.
like i said befor, the analog connections are the one most susceptible to signal noise, so if you can go digital, you should normaly have a lower change of a humm or crackle in your sound.

if you already had a analog mixer or pre-amp, i would suggest just buying a cable and see how good the connection is, but since you have to buy a mixer regardless because of the type of mic you want to use, spending 20 bucks or so more for the usb version, will spare you a lot of grief later.
and if you have a situation where you want to use it as an analog mixer, you still can, since it also has those outputs

I'll just get the first one you sent it still technically connects to the sound card since it has a front panel connector I'll just have to hope it's adequate enough

yea, but you`ll need a pre-amp or mixer with phantom power with that since it`s a condenser mic.

I don't think so. I've looked at the q&a and people are saying it doesn't require phantom power which would make sense because it's using the standard 3.5mm cable.

Interesting, usualy condenser mics need that.
Would you mind letting me know how it works out once you have it?
