Is my GTX 970 dying?

Hello, I have a GTX 970 G1 Gaming and I've been experiencing something really weird. In some games (not always) the screen starts blinking with some weird lines.

This happens always at the same point when starting up darksiders. It also happened on the pause menu but only once.

On watch dogs, it happens when I switch options in the pause menu...

In FIFA18 sometimes happened on the match, randomly.

What do you guys think?

First I would check if the cable is plugged in correctly and firmly. Are you using an adapter?

Edit: I mean the display cable.

I would check out 'gpu connections' too.

3 years.

Yes, I reinstalled the gpu and checked the pci-e conections

I have a really shity one, UNYKA 800W

Also, I've tried switching resolution and I've noticed that the blinking only happens on 1080p... I lowered the resolution and it did not blink. I am testing with Darksiders on the same spot I showed in the video... any thoughts?

EDIT: I have noticed that blinking comes even over steam overlay... I mean, the little window from steam blinks too...

Try crank UP the resolution if you can. What happens?

The power supply is a very important part of your system. I advice that you get a quality new one, certified at least 80plus bronze, and from a reliable brand. Check out psu tier list here in the forums, although i've been told it's outdated you can try a unit within tier 1, 2 or 3.

I think your problem is your psu, It could be dying since it's a crappy one (sorry for that). And maybe it's unable to deliver enough power for 1080p now. This is all speculation, I am no hardware technician, I am just a guy that reads about this over the internet.

If someone can lend you a psu to test it would be great, or buy one, test, and return it if it's not your problem. (However I would really advice a better psu, better safe than sorry)

I will add (although it sounds dumb) that my old smartphone when is low on battery (16% more or less) does the exact same thing with the screen, so may be it's a power-related issue.

It is possible that your card is starting to die, however I would test with a new psu.

I really hope that your psu hasnt killed it, not likely if in 3 years it hasnt.

Well... this didn't happen before... but as you say it can be a PSU issue... I will buy a corsair or nox psu, thank you for your help!!

Edit: i will reinstall drivers and see

Hope I could help! I suggest corsair cxm series.

Once more, I am no expert, so if the psu is not the problem you can return it if you want your money.

Really hope the gpu is not dead. But keep in mind that it is a possibility.

I can't RMA the card, I bought it 3 years ago :(

My monitor is 1080p, darksiders blinks if resolution is 1080p, if I lower it, it does not happen
My tv is 1366x768, blinking does not happen either with integrated gpu or gtx 970

Also I've noticed that SOMETIMES blinking does not happen, but I restart the PC and the blinking comes back...

Sorry for my english

Does you monitor have a different TYPE of input you could use from the graphics card? As in, maybe using DVI instead of HDMI? Maybe there is an issue with one of the pins. Have you checked the input on the monitor and the output on the graphics card to make sure nothing is bent at all or looks funny?

Also, what is the model number of your power supply?

It's probably ALSO a good idea to make sure you have the most recent bios version installed for your motherboard.

Does this blinking happen at any time BEFORE you load windows, or if you enter the BIOS and let it stay there does the problem not happen no matter how long the system is on?

Does it begin, when it does begin, immediately after windows starts loading or after windows IS loaded, or does it happen even before the system boots into windows?
