Hi.
I recently bought a Dell Latitude e6520 with a 256gb SSD, and no HDD. I tried booting it up, but the error message "Media test failure, check cable" shows and then "no boot device found" also shows. I went into BIOS and checked to see if the SSD was top priority in the boot sequence. I set the SATA mode to AHCI, but the SSD wasn't a boot option at all in Legacy or UEFI. I booted from a USB flash drive with win7 installation software on it, and ran startup repair. No problems were detected, so I decided to reinstall windows and try again. I began the installation but an error popped up saying there was no drive that had windows installed and I had to manually load drivers. I browsed the system files from the installation screen and the SSD does has windows program files, and boot files. I'm not sure as to why it's not booting , please help.

if you are not comfortable unscrewing your laptop from behind, you may want to bring that to the repair shop as soona s possible. theres a chance that some wirings/connections are loose inside. and it is not a good idea to switch SATA mode on a pre-installed bootable drive unlesss if you are booting into safe mode. you may need to RMA that laptop if its a faulty laptop.
if you are (but this may void your warranty), you can unscrew and check your SSD drive. check if the SATA cables are securely plugged in. if its an m.2 drive, just try reseating it and screw it back in.
