I have installed a NVMe SSD and my PC will not boot. In my bios it states that the first option is my Hard drive (which is correct as my OS is on there). It then gives me a message at the end of it all saying reboot and select proper Boot device.

When I unplug my new SSD the PC starts up just fine.

Just discovered when my SSD is plugged in I cant see my hardrive on my SATA ports? (BIOS picks it up in sata port 4 when SSD is not plugged in)

Please Help

I have done these steps and now have cloned the HDD to the SSD but when I try to boot from the SSD the "reboot and select a proper boot device message occurs"

Can you help?

1. Did you install the Samsung nvme drivers before the clone?
I must assume you did .
2. Did you use the Samsung ssd migration aid?
It works well, it is a C drive mover, not a bit for bit clone.
3. When done, remove your old C drive before you boot.

4. Do a full poweroff by holding down the shift key when using the windows shutdown key.
If you do not, windows will keep track of what you had before.
It would not hurt to unplug the psu which you should do anyway before removing the old windows drive.

Later, you should be able to reattach the old hard drive and access it.
You can then delete the windows folder and reuse the space.

An added thought...
When you installed windows initially, did you have any other drives installed?
If you did, windows placed some hidden recovery partitions of about 100mb on it which may be interfering.
They are needed to boot.
I do not know how to get past that one.
