Help!!!
In doing my first build and I'm checking if the components are working and I ran into a problem..
When I jumpstart the mobo the course fan spins and the mobo lights up and the vga card doesn't do anything. The fans try to spin but don't and whenever I plug the HDMI port it doesn't show anything. Is my vga dead?

Solution
if you are powering on the motherboard without the case, on which surface is the motherboard lying? Don´t use packaging materials, like foils of the motherboard or card boards.

The fan of the GPU doesn´t spin because of a feature which just let the fans spin till the chip reaches a certain temperature (like 60°C).

Did you plug in the monitor cable into the graphics card and not the non working ports of the motherboard (because Ryzen has no integrated graphics unit)?

Do you use a HDMI to HDMI cable? No adapters used?

8pin ATX12V power connector plugged into the motherboard as well?

edit:
CPU cooler is installed as well and cpu fan connected?
From your description so far, it could be your system is not even booting into the BIOS; the issue might not be your video card at all. Unfortunately, you don't have an IGPU, so you'd need another video card to verify. Nonetheless, I would check RAM and CPU seating, as well as your thermal paste application and reseat the motherboard and CPU PSU cables.

First, stick to THIS thread. Don't open multiple threads on the same subject. This isn't a 24/7 tech support website. Second, what do you mean "jumpstart"? You should be using the power button. When I've seen this before it's an issue with the power. Something isn't plugged in tight somewhere. If your PSU is modular, make sure both ends are in correctly.

i do not know as of now. but i suspect either the cpu or the gpu. im gonna take it to a tech shop tomorrow to replace both and see if it works and hopefully get it fixed. if you have any useful insight on the problem please tell me as this is my first build and im quite nervous

Not sure why you downvoted my reply. If you have a Fry's or Microcenter or similar store near you, you could get a POST card (between $5 and $20). You stick it in a PCI slot and it has a 2 digit display that can tell you whether the system is booting or not without a display, and if it's not making it through the BIOS, it will give you the error code.

The PSU is the seasonic s12 non modular power supply and I double checked the cables. The PSU is working fine. Also the motherboard I use isn't high-end thus doesn't have a power button, so I "jump-start" where I use a screw and touch the power pins in the motherboard

My gut says he's "breadboarding" or testing parts as he gets them. Hence the need to jumpstart the system. But that also means he might not have every part yet. If I'm right, we really need to know what parts you have so far and where they are plugged in.

I plugged in the CPU, gpu(goddamn autocorrect), ram and psu to the motherboard out of the case to check them as you mentioned. I did this to make sure I can boot into the bios. But nothing happened. I suspect the CPU is dead because I tested the gpu before at a friend's house unless it mysteriously died. I'm going to friend to check the system today.the gpu isn't he pci e x16 slot with the 6 pin connector. The cpu I plugged where it told me I should. And the ram in their slots normally

I plugged in the country, you, ram and psu

God I love auto correct... I assume you meant CPU, GPU, ram and PSU? What ram are you using? Can you test with your friends ram? Ryzen was super picky about ram when it first came out, you might need to update your bios to run the sticks you want to use. Bad ram or in the wrong slots can also cause what you are seeing.

The gpu uses a 6 pin cable. The gpu was working previous to the build (tested it at friends house) and I did plug the HDMI port in the card it self. I'm guessing either cpu is dead or the ram isn't compatible. I hope it's the latter

oh. i might've overlooked this one simple detail. well its too late as im on my way to my friend's house now. ill plug it and see when i come back
Edit: im retarded. the cpu isnt even on....
