Hello.

It's been some time that I'm having BSOD problems (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, FAULTY_PAGE_FOUNDED_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA and others...)

I got really tired of it and decided to format my PC, after that it worked for few weeks but after 2 weeks its happening again (even when just using the PC with nothing running at all).

I've done a memtest86 run today and the results were... not good. As you can see in the link bellow. The thing is, I not sure if the errors are in my CPU, RAM (and which one?) or my HDD. Can anyone help me with it? I'm hopping that I don't have to buy new RAMs nor a new CPU since I still use DDR3 and a i5-4670k CPU and it would just be better to buy the new socket and DDR4 rams. (although I don't have the money for it now)

Sorry if I forgot to add any relevant info. Let me know.

OK, the bad news is that almost all hex errors when trying to download/update/install Win10 are caused by a corrupted OS file on your computer. I'm afraid the only solution (that I've found in this situation) is to do a "clean" install of Win10, using the latest version on a thumb drive created here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If I were you, I'd "wipe" the HDD (NEVER WIPE AN SSD!!!!). Use DBAN (https://dban.org/). You'll need rufus.exe (http://rufus.akeo.ie/) to get DBAN onto a USB stick (here's how: https://www.wikihow.com/Use-Rufus) This is how to use DBAN: http://www.techfleece.com/2013/08/22/how-to-securely-wipe-your-hard-drive-using-dban/ The "quick erase" (single pass, zeros, verify pass) is...

What OS and version? Look here: Settings->System->About Look at the bottom of the page for: Editions, Version, Installed on, OS Build

Have you been updating your OS/AV/drivers recently? You should do this once a day: settings->Update & Security->Windows Update->Check for updates

Windows 10 Pro. Version: 1709

I'll |check for updates right now. Thanks

Isn't there a way to know which one is faulty using this test?

To test the RAM, find out which slot is used when you only want to use a single stick of RAM. Put a single stick of RAM in that slot and boot and run the computer. If all goes well, it's not that stick that's the problem. If the computer won't boot or run properly, then that stick of RAM is defective. Except..if all your RAM, tested individually, produce the same result, the problem is probably not your RAM...

So I test each single RAM, one by one, and see if theres any problem on boot and (maybe do some stuff to test?). If some problem happens with each single one of them the problem is probably my CPU or HD if happen with one or two, its the RAM?

Yes to what you said. Since your computer doesn't crash immediately on start (I'm assuming that), use your computer with the single stick of RAM until it either crashes, or you are satisfied it won't crash. The try the next stick the same way.

Also, it must be noted that the fixes that various entities are sending out (Intel, AMD, Microsoft, many, many others including motherboard makers with updated BIOSs) for the Spectre and Meltdown viruses are causing restarts. Not persistent BSODs, mostly, but unexpected restarts. If your computer goes BSOD, does it restart itself?

Its not crashing immediately on start like you assumed. It takes some time to crash (most of the times when I'm playing a game - I should have said that in the first post...)

Also thank you very much for your help and support. I'll try this RAM test tomorrow since its quite late in here and I'll post the results asap.

And yes, it does restart itself. But sometimes it doesn't go right to the windows logon screen, sometimes it goes to the BIOS settings, once there I just need to press F10 and it does start normally

Make sure you keep your computer, Win10, and your GPU driver up to date. Also, check to see if there is a BIOS upgrade for your system/motherboard. I know that Dell has already sent one out, others are doing so, too. If you built your own system, only do a BIOS upgrade if it a very recent one (from December 2017->).

Some updates.

I tried to download and install updates from Windows Update but I'm getting the error 0x8007000d. My GPU driver is up to date (checked twice) but I've never updates my BIOS. I've built my onw system but its from around 2014 (apart from the GPU that is from the first half of 2017)

Make sure you select the "custom" option that will over-write everything on the disk, rather than the "repair" or "reset" options. I have found those to be ineffective.

Make sure you back up all your data before you do this. After the new install, you will have to reinstall all of your programs. Before you do that, do this:
settings->Update & Security->Windows Update->Check for updates

The last thing to do before reinstalling your applications is to find and install the latest driver for your GPU.
