hey guys
just want a confirmation before upgrading my RAM
Currently im using this RAM : https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2400c15d-8grr
but im planning to add more with this one : https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-2400c15d-16gvr

As you can see, both of them have the same specs just different sizes.

So my main concern is that will I get the dual channel operation of the (2x4GB + 2x8GB)

to be fair, going just for 2x4GB more is a bit waste of money but if getting the 2x8GB would get me in disadvantage of running dual channel or even quad channel, then I'd just go for 2x4GB.

I have been told--forever--never to mix size or speed of RAM. A rule of thumb that I also adhere to is never mix "batches" of RAM, that is, buy some RAM, install it, sometime later buy some more of the same RAM and install it. I've not had good success doing that, maybe around 50% give or take. The newer the computer, the more likely it is not to work. So what I do when I'm ready to upgrade the RAM in a computer is buy all the RAM I want to install as a kit (ie, if I want to go from 2x4GB to 16GB I buy 2x8GB) then sell the used 2x4GB on eBay, where used RAM is bringing almost new prices.

Others will argue, and I'm sure they will, in following posts...but in the end it's your money, and you pays it and takes yer chances...
