I just got the i7 8700k and overclocked it to 4.6 ghz on all cores and it stays at a consistent 1.28 to 1.3v at all times when stressing on cpu-id and running cinebench and stays overall cool at 72-80 and 84 as a high. I also got the msi carbon ac motherboard FYI. What im asking is should i be worrying about these idle temps? Of course when its performing tasks and playing games its doing great in temps and performance. Is this bad for longevity? I have a 2 year warrenty anyway but i plan on having for more than 2 years. h100i v2 in a push config at the top of my 570x with thermal take riing 120mm fans running at 100 percent at all times 1300-1400 rpms. If you have any ideas for lowering the idle temps with a quick fix im all ears

Solution

Those voltages are rather high for 4.6Ghz. Try lowering them. Target should be ~ 1.18v-1.2v.
