Is upgrading HP 400-235d possible?

The gt 625 that comes with it is bottlenecking the CPU, looking to change it to a 1050ti low profile. The ram I want to add additional 4GB. My only problem is that I don't know whether the OS will accept the new components since it is a prebuilt pc.

The motherboard supports up to 16GB or RAM
Usually the OS is a non issue but the motherboard and power supply.
I was able to install the 1050ti on a similar system with a 240W PSU without any problems.

That motherboard has two memory slots, so if you currently have 2x2gb I'd suggest putting one 8gb stick in there. That way if some day you want to increase to 16gb then you can just add another 8gb stick. The videocard should work, just make sure it fits, not just in height but in length too.

Do you think a shop would let me test if a 1050ti lp
would be accepted by my system?

Would you take the risk of breaking a card, or damaging someone else PC for nothing?
You could buy it and have the shop install it, if it doesn't work you could return it right there at the spot.

Alright thanks! I think I'd wait till the Volta version of 1050ti is out. Maybe by that time cryptominers are not so crazy anymore and ram would be cheaper..

I figured the 270w power supply may not be really 270w continuous and cant support the system. The case does not fit an ATX PSU. Do you think it's possible to mount a psu outside the case and the cables would still reach the components?

Mounting the PSU outside is not a good idea, anything could fall inside it a create a short.
A 270W PSU will deliver the power the system is using at a specific time. Your computer power usage will vary depending on the task at hand. It won't use the same amount of power if you are just browsing the web that will use if you are playing a demanding game online.
I don't think your computer will use more than 250W at full load even with the 1050ti.
Even though it might not be a standard ATX PSU, you could replacement online.
