TP-LINK Unmanaged Desktop Switch Issues

Hi All,

Due to living in a spread-out bungalow, I’m currently running a TP-LINK TL-SF1080P with 4-Port PoE which powers 3 TP-LINK wireless antennas and a couple of hardwired internet wall socket connections.

The internet connection seems to work most of the time all around the home. However, when booting up laptops and/or the XBOX (which typically use a wireless connection) it will bring down my connection. This is identified by the lights on the front of the TP-LINK unit flickering like mad (rather than the steady flashing you get with typical use). I’ve found the best way to resolve this is by taking the power connection out of the unit and re-plugging it and once again all is fine.

Can anybody offer any pearls of wisdom or things I could try, or do you feel a new unit is required?

Thanks in advance!

What do you mean by "which typically use a wireless connection"? Also what model are the "3 TP-LINK wireless antennas " Do you mean Access Points, I presume you do as they are powered. The fast blinking lights on a switch normally indicate the dreaded network loop but I'm trying to figure out how you could achieve that state with the equipment you have and it wouldn't generally be cleared with a re-boot. That's why I asked the first question.

Hi,

Please find answers below...

What do you mean by "which typically use a wireless connection"? - I mean the laptops and XBOX (which bring the switch down), they both connect wirelessly.

Also what model are the "3 TP-LINK wireless antennas " Do you mean Access Points, I presume you do as they are powered. - Yes, TP-LINK (TL-WA801ND) Access Points, up in the roof space, which use the PoE to power them rather than individual sockets.

Thanks for any help, it's appreciated!
