I was going to build a new one with a ryzen 3 1300x and a gtx 1050 but found this ad on kijiji and with the prices and unavailability of graphics cards lately I decided to check it out as an option instead. The build I would make would end up costing about 1000$ Canadian with os and taxes, maybe slightly more because I can't find any cheaper 4gb 1050s in stock. This build i found on kijiji is 500$ has..

CPU AMD FX8120 at 3.1GHz unlocked
Motherboard Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0
Video EVGA GTX 960 2GB
RAM DDR3 10GB
Hard drive 1TB
Asus DVD-RW
Power supply CorsAir CX500 W

Any opinions if it's worth it? Keep in mind this is Canadian not u.s. any advice on how to test this thing or things to check when I go see it?

Unless all you intend to do is browse the web, read e-mails, and watch videos, under no circumstance would I recommend any AMD FX series based system. It's far too old and outdated. There is no upgrade path from there. Put your money into a new build.

If you're really tight on cash then it's not horrible but your build with the R3 1300X and 1050Ti would be better. Best test is to boot it up and install CPU-Z just to make sure all the parts are detected and you know for sure what you're getting. Launching a game could be a secondary test.

99% of the time I would take the newer build since FX is honestly a really bad CPU line.

Well a new build is also quite difficult when I can't find a decently priced gpu anywhere. Even if I do get this used pc I'll still be building my own, the next black friday/cyber Monday or whatever which also gives me time to put more into it

Not a dime for a FX processor.

Best bet on finding a graphics card is ebay, but use due diligence.
I might suggest a different approach.
Build using a I3-8100. Price will be similar to the r3-1300x and performance will be slightly better. Check the passmark ratings.
More importantly, it comes with integrated HD630 graphics which can get you started.
You will then get a better idea of how strong you need for a graphics card.

If your ultimate build needs a much stronger cpu, sell the 8100 and buy a i7-8700K or whatever you need.

The r3 is on sale for a great price at a store near me which is why I chose that if i do a build. there's also a 250$ used build I could go with temporarily. I'm on a very bad laptop right now that's why I'm in a rush to upgrade. The 250$ one has.

Intel Core i5-4440s Haswell Quad-Core 2.8GHz (3.3GHz Turbo) LGA 1150 65W
ASUS H81M-A LGA 1150 Motherboard
DDR3 8 GB
HDD 320 GB
Asus Nvidia GeForce GT 630 Silent 2GB DDR3 Graphics Card
DVD RW
Win 10

I mostly play mid tier games, on mid settings, fortnite etc.. but don't think that pc would be enough for that. My laptop might even be slightly better
