Hello,

I purchased a used 8gb stick of corsair DDR4 ram which was sold as a 16gb kit. I now want to purchase a second stick of 8gb. I have found one with the same speed and timings and the only difference I can see in the model number is a change from 16 to 8 which I presume is the number relevant to how its sold in a kit?

Am I right in thinking these would match up without causing any issues?

Model number of one I own is cmk16gx4m2a2400c16
Model number of the one I want to buy is CMK8GX4M1A2400C16

Thanks in advance.

Yes, the 8GB module labeled "16G" was sold/intended to be sold as a 2x8GB "kit".

The one labeled 8G is a stand-alone 8GB module.

The have a pretty high chance of success, yes. BUT, sometimes mixed/matched RAM may simply not "play nice" with others - even the exact same model numbers (ie two of those 8GB modules sold separately).

The only way to know for sure, is to test them. While I'd be pretty confident those two function together as expected.... there's still a slim chance they may not.
