Should I upgrade my motherboard and CPU before new Video Card?

Currently have MAXIMUS VI HERO, with 4670k.

Looking to purchase a new video card, but wasnt sure if the PCI slot was too old to take advantage of any of the new features?

Nah, you will be fine with that CPU and MB. As long as the mb has PCIEx16 3.0 lane, you are fine. Today's new MB is still 3.0 :)
