Hey I just built a new gaming pc and was wondering if I could just take my hard drives from my old gaming pc and put them in my new pc without a problem. If not what do I have to do to use my old hard drives on my new pc?

Solution
Doubtful as the old hard drive most likely had the OS installed on it.

You will need to wipe\reformat the hard drive before you put it in the new system or it can lead to windows attempting to duel boot and cause problems.

Use something like a usb adaptor or docking station and plug it into the new desktop. The go into Device Manager>Disk Management and format the hard drive.

Just make sure you are formatting the old disk and not your new one!

Ohh I see. But I can’t really afford to format my old hard drive since most of it has important files. Is there a migration tool or something I could use to just use my old hard drive?

Buy another hdd then, then you can connect the old hdd after windows has been installed.

Or copy what you want to flash drive. Except programs. You'll have to reinstall them

Probably not a good idea migrating anything because nothing like drivers the chipset drivers.. will be compatible with the new mobo
