Problem: Two identical systems that randomly freeze at POST.

I upgraded two identical systems, cloning the old SATA drives to SSD's. On one system I cloned the OS drive to a SanDisk and the other to a Crucial. The systems, with Windows 10, run without a problem and are the only bootable drive installed. This issue was going on with one system prior to the SSD upgrade, the other I don't recall.

Both systems were built at the same time several years ago by someone using the exact same parts and configuration.

Both have Gigabyte GA-MA78LM-S2H rev 1.3 motherboards with the last released firmware.

I believe I found a pattern, every time I reboot in Windows 10 the system will restart, show the POST screen, display just a few lines and then just freeze - before any memory checks. Second, if I press the fast reset button it will do the same thing and then usually about the 5th attempt (happens randomly) the system will complete the POST, and startup windows. I noticed today that if I completely shut off the computer then start it up that the systems won't lock up during POST.

I'm sure it isn't a Windows issue because the POST freeze occurs prior to the system going through and displaying the memory check -- thus it freezes before even checking all the hardware.

In short, when powering on the system POST doesn't hang but when you reboot or press reset they will hang. Both machines have the exact same problem.

I've cleared the CMOS, used Fail-Safe settings in the BIOS, etc., to no avail. (The SSD drives are running in IDE mode.) I don't have access to the systems at the moment.

Seems to be/maybe a setting in the BIOS as this is occurring on both systems and freezing mid-POST prior to attempting to launch Windows.

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this with Gigabyte boards esp GA-MA78LM-S2H rev 1.3, with the same symptoms?
