Hi there

I have just built my first gaming PC and on it I installed x4 8GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LED RAM.

On booting up, one of my RAM DIMMs shows as "undefined" in the UEFI BIOS.

DRAM Status
DIMM_A1: Undefined 8192MB 2000MHz
DIMM_A2: Corsair 8192MB 2133MHz
DIMM_B1: Corsair 8192MB 2133MHz
DIMM_B2: Corsair 8192MB 2133MHz

When I swap the DIMMs into different slots, the message follows the DIMM in question so it is not the mobo. I ran the PC with the RAM and had no issues. I even had XMP working to 3200 as per the specs on the box. No errors. Is there a chance this could damage my machine?

The DIMMS are all the same brand and identically labelled.

I bought the DIMMs on Ebay used so return isn't possible or I would simply do that.

Specs

ASUS STRIX Z270E Gaming Motherboard
i7-7700K CPU @ 4.2GHz
ASUS STRIX GTX1080
4x 8GB (2x 8GB at the moment) DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LED RAM

Thanks all

I would suggest booting with 1 stick at a time. Checking the seating (insertion) of each one. Test each one in more than 1 dimm slot. Since you bought them at the same time they should all work and not come up as they do. If all else fails, try changing the order. Check your motherboard manual on which are the first two dimm slots and which are the second two dimm slots. Get two that work together in slots 1 and 2 and then check in slots 3 and 4.

Thank you. I have tried all of the above. The DIMM in question shows as Undefined on whichever slot it's in and in whatever configuration.
