Hello,

I'm planning to put together a water-cooled system in the very near future. I was curious though, before installing a loop, Would it be a good idea to build the PC first with stock coolers and turn it on to verify system functionality, install OS and drivers (etc...)?

I would just hate to build the computer, and install the loop only to find out you have a faulty graphics card, or something wrong with the motherboard. I'm an avid builder, but never done a watercooling build yet, so I'm curious if anyone has done this process with watercooling rigs.

Thanks!

Yes, that's a good idea. Especially if you've never built and run a loop before. Save yourself some headache by doing the build with air first, but be aware that most of the Intel unlocked CPUs don't come with a stock cooler, most AMD models do, so if you are buying an unlocked Intel K sku you might have to buy an air cooler in order to do that.

That is not a bad idea anyhow because that way you have something to fall back on in the event that you ever have trouble with your loop and have to warrant something you are not without a way to cool and run the system while waiting for that to go through, ship, come back, authorization, etc.
