My laptop wifi seems to be unable to access DNS servers after an amount of time, I have to change the DNS and it returns to normal operation. Windows gives no indication of an error (shocker). Unsure if this is happening on wired connection.

Laptop: HP probook 450 (HSTNN-Q95C)
OS: Win 7 pro 64bit (Laptop came with Win10)
Wifi adapter: Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260, Driver version: 18.40.4.2

I would set the dns to 8.8.8.8 manually in the pc networks settings. The default is to use the router as a proxy and use your ISP DNS server. Both the router cache and the ISP DNS seem to have more issues that the google dns..ie 8.8.8.8

You also have to be sure it really is a dns issue. Many times you get that message when you get a interruption in the internet. I would leave a ping to 8.8.8.8 run in a background cmd window. If you get outages at the same time it is more likely some general network issue.

I've been using googles DNS (probably should have mentioned that huh) but i've switched to and from ISP DNS and each switch clears the problem for a time. I have a suspicion that it is the driver in some way, these DNS issues have happened across many networks and routers all on different ISPs, including the Wifi provided by my university which should have a rock solid DNS (i assume).
