CPU test and Hard drive test

My pc recently fried, and i was told to test my CPU and Hard drive to see it they would work in a new computer. My fried pc won't turn on at all, so there is no way to test it. I'm new to "fried pc's," so what should I do?

First it may be a good idea to troubleshoot the PC you have before swapping things around. Also, if the CPU and hard drive are old/slow it may not even be worth it to swap them.
