Hey.

So i just upgraded my old pc. And i decided to boot my pc from an usb. It contains Win 7. But as you can see from the title my keyboard and mouse doesnt work at the menu. And if i dont use the usb as boot and boot from my original hdd it shows windows startup repair after scanning i cant use my keyboards again It works fine before the menu. I was able to go to bios and all. And yes they are plugged in usb2.0 and no i dont have ps/2 keyboards.

My specs that i bought for upgrade:
Ryzen 3 1300x
1050 ti
AB350M-HDV
8GB HyperX

Solution
It seems that i have been successful on fixing my problem. if anyone stumbles upon the same problem as I. I recommend you to reinstall the media creation tool found in Microsofts own site. And reinstall it to your USB. And if you get another error code during the download of windows. Then reinstall MCT again. If reinstalling MCT gets an error code too. Then either format it with FAT32 or any other formatting choices. Then try reinstall it again. And if that doesn't work then get a brand new USB.

Ryzen has issues with not having native USB support on Windows 7. It's because of the chipset. This is one of the most common problems you can run into. This is one reason my shop always has a working PS/2 keyboard on hand.

You should either try to source a cheap PS2 keyboard or use a workaround like MSI smart tool which works on non MSI boards.

To use MSI Smart tool you need:

- MSI smart tool program. It should run on any version of Windows as it's a small program.
- Windows 7 DVD or ISO
- 8GB or larger flash drive
- A PC that is working so you can actually set up the USB drive.

Hey.

So ive been thinking if it is better to buy a new hard drive and buy a windows 10 code. I cant fix this problem. At first i tried the windows 10 media creation tool. And it came up with a bluescreen with a error code 0xc000021a. And couldnt find a fix for that either. And i tried using a usb to PS/2 adapter but it didnt work either i couldnt use my keyboard nor my mouse.

USB to PS/2 adapters will not work because they are not truly PS/2. A PS/2 keyboard would work.

Please try using the Windows 7 Smart Tool to create the boot USB or DVD if you have not already.

If the Windows 7 Smart Tool doesn't work it, may be best to save yourself the struggling and opt for Windows 10 and a new drive.
