Hi folks,

What would you recommend between iPhones vs Android phones as being best for security (hacking etc) and privacy (tracking etc)?

Many thanks, D

Solution
You're diving too deep into "protecting my privacy etc etc etc". If you are so concerned about your privacy, get a flip phone, forget about iOS/Android/etc, then only your cell operator will know what you're doing.

Both Apple and Google proved they will do whatever they want with their platforms and services. Still, Android will give you much more flexibility to decide how to do the things. Choose a phone / OS based on your likings and features, and stop worrying about non-sense.

And in terms of personal privacy (i.e the phone/OS itself tracking/spying on the user), which is best with an old iPhone vs a new Android phone?

Thanks! :)

That's a good point, Alabalcho...

What are your thoughts on Android (Google) vs iOS (Apple) for personal privacy with their phones?

What would you choose between them and why? And are there any good alternatives that protect personal privacy?

Thanks D

Great links, thanks SR-71 :)

Do you have any views/info on Apple vs Android phones in terms of protecting your personal privacy (i.e. not tracking/spying on everything you're doing on the phone)?

Thanks Alabalcho.
Yes, I think Android offers more flexibility as you say, so perhaps a better choice.

I'd say

Is the Android concept (for mobile system) the best and most sustainable solution.

The advantage in Android is that there is custom Rom. Those that run without Google service. In general, when the millions of users want it and invest a lot of money in it. Can enforce an Android without Google service.

the potential is significantly greater than with the iPhone and other Apple products.

as soon as you have used an iPhone. You'll immediately notice that you can't set it up without an internet connection. you can't set up a single iOS product locally.

it clearly shows them that apple products are just marketing products. it never serves to be there for the users. otherwise apple uses its market power to prevent a really cheap and secure solution. not only apple participates in it. google and microsoft are also involved.

the dream would be GNU/Linux on the desktop for the users. For gamers Linux is not the problem. It's nothing but a question of money. Many hardware and software manufacturers don't want that, but I can tell you one thing.

In truth, it's the users who decide. If they don't want that anymore.
no more buying apple products. apple is dead without customers' money.

spend more money on independent technologies and systems. support independent developers more.

I think the future will come like this. no more apple and other harmful companies.

Many users don't want iPhones anymore and people want more real privacy.
