So i'd like to upgrade to 240hz so i can improve my tracking in shooting games

In-game video settings don't have to be ultra, but i definitely want to play in 1080p. I do want maximum view distance, moderate effects, some shadows.

I've been playing a lot of Fortnite and that's made me want to get back into shooters. For Fortnite in particular, it seems like the textures are pretty simple - not too detailed. Does this make it easier to produce a higher frame rate?

I don't have a 240hz monitor yet, and i think i'm about done with research there. Just have to read some reviews. But I need help with a graphics card. I currently have a this card:

EVGA GeForce GTX 950 02G-P4-2958-KR 2GB FTW GAMING, Silent Cooling Gaming Graphics Card

2GB 128-Bit GDDR5
Core Clock 1203 MHz
Boost Clock 1405 MHz
1 x Dual-link DVI-I 1 x HDMI 2.0 3 x DisplayPort 1.2
768 CUDA Cores 768 Stream Processors
PCI Express 3.0 x16

Form Factor & Dimensions

Max GPU Length 257 mm
Card Dimensions (L x H) 10.10" x 4.38"
Slot Width Dual Slot

I can get about 90-120 fps with my current settings. With settings turned down to bare minimums at 1080p, i get about 140ish.

i have an i3-6100, soon to be an i7-7700 when it arrives in the mail

Memory :
Crucial - Ballistix Sport LT 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory

What I am looking for:
240+ fps:
I want to play at 240hz + fps because I want to be able to rely more on flick shots and during close encounters where the screen is moving all over the place, I can't track anything. 60fps is just not smooth enough

1080p: I'll be playing on about 24", so I don't need more, don't want less.

max view distance
moderate effects These are less important, but are in order of priority.
moderate shadows

Used or new is fine.

My budget is $300

Thanks for the help

Solution
Now is about the worst time in history to look for a GPU upgrade due to prices at an all-time high. But when you get the chance get a GTX 970, GTX 1060, or whatever new Nvidia mid-range GPU comes out later this year.
