Do you need the CMOS cap?

Do you really need the CMOS cap or is it just for resetting the bios ? Will my bios reset every boot when i dont have it or is it just the cmos battery that is responsible for that?

Generally the CMOS jumper is only used to short the clear CMOS pins. The rest of the time it should be in a neutral, not connected position. Not having it on should not affect anything.
