Are talking $50 total or $50 for the motherboard and $50 for a CPU (totaling $100)?

If you want to upgrade for only $50 then you’ll need to find some super cheap parts on eBay and they will probably not be anywhere near i3’s and definitely not i7’s.

Are you running off of a graphics card or the IGPU of the 8400?

My apologies, it does not have an IGPU. I was thinking of a different processor lol.

Ok $100 gives you more to work with. If you want to keep your RAM then you’ll stay with Haswell processors and below. Here’a what I would do:

CPU: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F282815887677

Motherboard: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F152855942220

These are used items but the best I could find for $100 that can still use your RAM. You can play around with the options and maybe find a similar or better chip for about the same price. I went with the i5 to keep 4 physical cores and that they’re excellent gaming CPU’s.

I think eBay is your only option as Newegg and Amazon have limited and expensive parts for DDR3 systems.

ok i found $130 G4560 + H110M and the DDR4 memory can be provided by my school (they have alot of of old and broken down i5 6400 systems and hopefully one of the ram works and as far as i can see the i5 and the 4560 has a 10% difference in performance but at the same time the 4560 has better upgradability

What are you're full PC specs?
Do you have DDR2 or DDR3 ram?
