Hello. So I bought GTX1050ti 4GB dual fan, and it runs poorly. I had 750 ti before ( I know that they are very similar, but 1060 price went up way too high). So the new graphic card runs WORSE than 750ti. I got approx. 5 fps less on every game + some random quick drops. I'm so mad and confused right now, so are my friends. I plugged monitor into GPU, fans are working, i uninstalled old GPU drives. So i dont know, im very sad right now.

My specs:
MSI GTX1050ti 4GB
AMD Athlon x4 860K quad core 3.70 GHz
8GB ram
400W power supply
windows 10

Solution
It would depend how much you're willing to spend (especially with inflated RAM prices).

A 7th gen i5 would be a huge upgrade, just be aware the upgrade path is limited (i7-7700k is the best available for the chipsets). But it does mean buying into a new core of CPU, motherboard and RAM. I believe the G4560 is still regarded as the best budget CPU, but availability and pricing could be an issue. True even for a Ryzen build.

The older 3rd/4th gen Intels would allow you to reuse the DDR3 RAM you currently have, but no upgrade path.

Comparatively I would think the 1050 ti is more powerful than the 750 ti (dependent upon what it's doing). Framerates tend to be more CPU bound at lower resolutions. And graphics card benchmarks typically use the most powerful CPUs.

If you haven't already, try a clean installation to see if that provides any boost. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-2767677/perform-clean-install-video-card-drivers.html

I suspect what's happening is that the 1050 ti is demanding more from the x4 860k - which it cannot provide. In essence, the CPU is bottlenecking the system. Have you tried overclocking yet? With my old x4 760k and 750 ti I managed a modest 10 fps increase in some areas in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

So I made this clean install before, didn't really improve anything. I'm thinking about getting a new CPU. Do you know any budget CPU, that will fit my GPU? Something like Intel i5 7th gen 4GHz?

So I can't just buy new processor chip, and replace it with my current CPU? I have to change whole motherboard for this?

^ Truth.

It's the 860K that is hurting your performance. Some 1050 Ti cards don't need any extra power but some do ask for a 6 pin PCIe supplemental power cable.

A new motherboard and RAM is needed. Not a simple swap of CPUs.

Be sure that your version of 10 is tied to your Microsoft account https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/windows-10-reactivating-after-hardware-change.

Unfortunately with the FM2+ platform the best CPU for it is the x4 880k, which won't provide you with the performance gain you'd want for your games.

I was in the same position with my x4 760k; it wasn't worthwhile to upgrade to another CPU on FM2+ because the differences were minimal. I planned my build for ages before I purchased the core components of CPU, motherboard and RAM.

I would still suggest exploring overclocking as a temporary measure though if your motherboard allows it. AMD Overdrive can be quite helpful if you've never done it before (it's how I did it). Might be enough as you decide how you're going to upgrade and get the money to do so.

Is it possible that my GPU performance is not that great because I use 4 pin to 6 pin power adapter? Because my power supply has only 4 pin so I bought adapter to turn this 4 pin into 6 pin for GPU?

If the graphics card isn't receiving enough power then you'd likely see other issues like crashing - it shouldn't be just a drop in performance. Though if possible you could borrow a suitable PSU to eliminate this possibility.

I believe the GTX 750 ti was considered the most balanced choice for the FM2+ Athlons at the time. With this we're back to the bottlenecking issue. Think of it like a three legged race, only be as fast as the slowest will allow.

What is your psu model exactly??

With it being rated 400w & having no pci express connectors Im very very dubious about its quality personally.

Irregardless of whether the 860k can hamdle a 1050ti or not , the fact is you should not see lower fps coming from a 750ti.
The 1050ti is close to 50% more powerful.
