Hi, I was wondering what the max hard drive capacity would be for an MSI Z87 GD65. Would it be able to handle anything over 2.2TB? From what I have read, the mother board has to be in UEFI mode, but still didn't know if this motherboard would be compatible. Also, I think my BIOS is in that mode, but don't really know much about it, so how would I know for sure? I'm quickly running out of room for things, and need more storage.
Thank you.

Solution
Unlimited (not really unlimited - theoretical limitation is 8 zetabytes). But currently that is 12TB, because there are no larger drives developed.
GPT is necessary to access all the capacity, when drive is larger than 2TB.
UEFI is needed only, if you want to boot from GPT drive.
If you use it as secondary drive (just for storage), then UEFI is not a requirement.

really? I thought UEFI was required for it to be recognized at all. well cool! Yeah, I'm going to use it as a data drive, not a boot drive, I already have an SSD for that. So its just like installing a 1 or 2 TB drive, nothing more? Thanks for the reply.

Edit: But wait a minute- is GPT/UEFI on a per-drive basis? Like I said, I really don't know that much about it yet. Or, is the BIOS set up for all GPT/UEFI for everything? Thanks again.
