I have this problem since I bought my graphics card. In some games like DOOM or Far Cry 3 after a couple of minutes I get a black screen. The gpu priority switches to the on board graphics by it's self and I have to change it again in the BIOS menu. I installed the latest amd drivers with clean installation(DDU), nothing changes, I still have the same problem. The weird part is that I play battlefield 1 and mass effect andromeda for over a year now and it didn't happened once. Temperature seems fine(70 Celcius max)!

Specs:
CPU: i3 6100
GPU: Asus rx 470 4gb
MOBO: Asus H110 M-K
RAM:16 GB(Dual Channel)
PSU:Corsair vs series 550w

Solution

Replace the graphics card. Those odd colors are called artifacts and are indicative of a card's instability.

I'll try that thanks! If it is a setting issue wouldn't it crash on other games as well?

I tried to disable the on board via the device manager but on the display adapters I only see the RX 470 and not Intel HD. How come?

Is it still disabled under the bios? Try enabling it there and disabling via the device driver. Not sure why the BIOS can't keep it off.

...Wait, that threw me off. Can you upload a screen shot?

I am at Bios menu right now. There is no option to enable or disable the on board graphics. The only option is to choose the primary display. There are 3 choices :Auto, cpu graphics and PCIE. No matter how many times I set it to PCIE when I open bios menu it set to auto again..

I have some news! There is another option: iGPU Multi monitor and I enabled it. Now I can see the Intel Graphics at the device manager. Should I disable it via device manager now?

I wonder if there are any errors. The driver for the 470 may be crashing necessitating the integrated GFX to take priority.

Oh ok. Like I said I clean installed many times the amd drivers.. However I experience some weird "visual bugs" sometimes: The amd icon is shown double on the hidden icons bar, that happened before again. One time the screen went totally crazy and I saw some weird colours and abstract lines and stuff. I don't know..

The odd colour thing happened once while monitor was on sleep mode. As moved the mouse I saw theese colours and stuff, then I turned off and on and the problem was fixed. The thing is that this issue happens on certain games. I can play bf1 and m.e. andromeda for hours without crashing.
