Hi. So in September 2017 I bought this Archer T6E wireless adapter for my desktop because having a cable across my apartment isn't working out. I installed the adapter in, and my PC was not even starting up. It stays on the boot menu and sometimes blue screens. I took out the adapter, and everything worked fine. I have the driver files right now on my desktop ready to install but it seems my PC doesn't even want to boot with the hardware installed. I returned the item, uninstalled the required driver for the adapter and stayed with the Ethernet cable.

Now in the new year, i decided to try again but with a totally different adapter, the DLink AC1200 DWA-582. Guess what.. it does the exact same thing. I'm beginning to suspect that something in my mobo ins't letting it be connected or something. Is there a way to see if the PCI-E1 is enabled on my mobo and how would i do that.

Motherboard is the MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition ( all drivers/BIOS are up to date and had it since late 2015. Still works great.)

This is very frustrating. Thank you all.

Pop into the other slot just to test. If it works fine then it is the...
Had it been just 1 card, then I would have thought it was the card. But two cards doing the same thing ... sounds like you have a wonky slot. It's not that the slot is not enabled, it's more like something is shorting or not making good contact. Since you have had the motherboard a while, it could be dust in the slot. Get a can of canned air and give it a good blow (vacuum cleaners, while effective, can build up static electricity and so not a good choice). You happen to have another Pci e1 slot you can try?

I do have another slot its just that if i do its gonna be really close to do fans on my graphics card and I don't wanna block any ventilation.

Pop into the other slot just to test. If it works fine then it is the slot that is buggy. If it doesn't work then you might have got 2 bad cards ... hard to believe, but it happens sometimes.

It worked! Thank you. Glad it wasn't a major problem. Hopefully it keeps working
