My desktop has been working fine for a good while, but then half a year ago started to not fully exploit my internet speed which is supposed to be 250/250.

The desktop is located 10m away from the router, with one wall in between, and I'm using 5GHz.

The odd thing about it all is that when I re-install my LAN drivers, it works fine with speeds up to 170mbps, which is great cause you have to expect some reduction. But after half an hour it drops down to 30mbps.

Another thing to add is that my iPhone runs at a stable 230/200, so I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with my WiFi.

Any advice?

Could be malware hogging down your system. Next time, before you reinstall the drivers. Check your error logs, and doing an ipconfig/releasee ipconfig/renew and then see if your device driver gives you any errors.

Alright. I had a look in my error log, and have found multiple issues. I'm not sure if any of these might be the reason, but maybe you can help me.

I had these following faults in my system:
TPM
Volsnap
SideBySide
Dhcp-Client
NETLOGON
Tcpip
VSS
NDIS
DistributedCOM

I don't know what any of these means.

As for my router and desktop I'm using Zyxel p8702n and a PCI.
