Im looking to purchase some sort of external storage that i would be backing up all of my papers and cad files from school. Im not sure exactly how much storage i would need but its a decent amount. So im wondering should i go flashdrive or external harddrive and which specific one would you recomend.

If you're looking for something to plop next to your desk that won't be moving around a lot, you will get a little more performance out of something that comes with a power adapter, such as the Backup Plus Hub or Expansion Desktop lines.

If you're looking for something that's a little easier to take around and/or plug into different computers via USB only (no power plug) then you can take a look at the Backup Plus and Expansion Portable lines. If you're looking for something that can handle a little more rough handling, then you could also take a look at the LaCie Rugged line as well.

just search for "usb 3.1 uasp" and buy any HDD 2.5"/3.5". you can also spend more on SSD if you want faster transfer speed over 80~120MB/s to 300~500MB/s. below is an example for home use.

if you want something more mobile. just buy the cable below with any 2.5" SSD you want

if you only need 64Gb below. just go for a USB stick from popular brands like buffalo/sandisk/etc. just make sure you dont lose it easily.

What is the advantage of this over a regular external harddrive
