I bought a new laptop with 8 gb ram. And pc info shows 8.00gb. That's not a problem.
But CPU-Z shows 8098 Mb dual channel ram in 'MEMORY' tab and slot info in 'SPD' tab shows Slot#1 as 4096 Mb of ram and all other slots show no data.
Task manager is showing slots used 2 out of 4.
Isn't it supposed to be 8192 Mb in CPU-Z?
Edit: will provide screenshots in a few hours. Laptop is not with me right now.

well then either 1 ram stick is bad, or a slot is bad, or its not sitting properly in the lot.
I would shut the computer down locate ram and take both out.
Put 1 stick in then boot system and get into bios to see if it recognizes the ram properly?
Shutdown take ram stick out, put the other ram stick in slot 1 and reboot again to test it.

If both are recognized in slot 1? then next is put both ram stick in again, boot and check it problem is gone (could be a stick not properly sitting in slot)

if slot 2 still doesn't read ram, shutdown computer swap slot 1 and slot 2 ram stick, and boot again testing. if the result when swapping ram stick and you get same result then motherboard slot is the problem, otherwise if on the first test (1...
