Hi all,

I have a problem where my USB 3.0 Ethernet adapter does not reach gigabit speeds. I have tested on my laptop and my desktop PC to no avail. I do not believe it is a cable issue or a router issue because when connected directly to my PC motherboard ethernet slot 1gbps works fine. When using the adapter it is limited to 100mbps. I have installed the latest drivers for USB Ethernet adapters and manually adjusted the speed and duplex to 1gbps full duplex and still nothing. Is the adapter not capable of 1gbps speeds or is it a configuration/driver issue?

There is only one generic review. Which is basically meaningless.

There is no make or model listed. Which means it is likely some junk with no quality control and uses whatever network chip is cheapest at the time.

Get one from a recognized networking brand such as Netgear, TP-Link, DLink, Linksys or ASUS.

Note: I don't know the reliability of either store. Those are the only two adapters I found for computer parts stores in the Philippines. From the Worldwide Computer Parts Stores list.

When you look at the status of your adapter. Does it say 100 Mbps or 1.0 Gbps?
- Control Panel > Network Connections > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings
- Right click on the connection and select "Status".
- Look at "Speed:"

What is the make and model of the USB Ethernet Adapter?
