Hello,

I recently just built a gaming pc and installed pubg and msi afterburner to check my temps and while playing it says my CPU is at 43 degrees and this just doesn't seem correct. I would have thought it to be higher. So is afterburner wrong or is it capped? please help

Maybe you have a powerful CPU feeding a not-too-hungry GPU or the game isn't fully taxing your rig? A bulldozer feeding a pickup truck isn't going to get overworked. Sounds like good cooling to me. No worries.

its actually a bit strange nowadays cpu run at around 40 degrees while playing games, but who knows right. what do you mean powerful cpu feeding a not too hungry gpu? cpu and gpu work separately, gpu will run 100% in game no matter what settings you use, except if the game not goodly improved or you do custom config, load on gpu wouldn't be at max. also powerful cpu pretty much means more heat generated

Well I wouldn't have thought my CPU was very powerful it's only a Ryzen 3 1200 with a gtx 1060 6gb, and all my cooling is at the minute is the stock fans the case come which is only 1 with and Ryzen stock cooler. I also don't have the side panel on and I have my room ceiling fan on high.

Not exactly.... pretend your desktop is a "game". Is the GPU running at 100% to render your desktop? Does it run at 100% to run minesweeper?

Now, consider a modern game. The processor draws the 3D frames and sends them to the GPU to be rendered (simplified) and may have other tasks computing physics and the like. If the CPU doesn't draw them as fast as the GPU can render them, the CPU becomes a bottleneck limiting the GPU's output and work. If the game is set to produce 60fps and your rig is capable of 240fps, neither component will be doing too much work. Some settings tax the GPU while other settings tax the CPU.

Here's a simple graphic illustrating the concept for Overwatch: https://qph.ec.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-1daf414e8ea2f6600a0cd2c6f4f9f6c7

You are fine, bro! That little processor won't get too hot.

"Out of the box the 1300X peaked at 62 degrees when stressing the CPU, FPU and cache whereas the 1200 hit only 55 degrees. It's worth noting that if we only stressed the CPU, which I feel is a more realistic test, the 1300X maxed out just 49 degrees and only 42 degrees for the 1200. Those are amazing results for a box cooler under heavy load."

Have fun and game on!
