What GPU should I use for a Sun Microsystems Ultra 27?

Solution

Reuse your HDD and the rest buy new, this system will easily outperform your current system. Just make sure to do a clean install of Windows 10.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 1200 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor (£82.50 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-A320M-HD2 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (£39.98 @ Novatech)
Memory: Crucial - Sport LT 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory (£81.46 @ CCL Computers)
Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 1050 2GB Low Profile Video Card (£109.99 @ Novatech)
Case:...
For what purpose? The system uses a Bloomfield era Xeon which, these days, is better suited to home/office/youtube viewing or light workstation tasks than gaming.
Also, what power supply is installed? Workstation parts are, by nature, reliable but if it's the part the system was built with it'll be getting on by now and well past its best.
Finally, now is a really terrible time to purchase a GPU, prices are just plain crazy unless you get lucky.
