Adapter Rated For 300 Mbps But Only Getting 20 Mbps

To get a meaningful answer, please post the following:
-The actual Asus model number (like RT-AC88U, and not "AC1900" which refers only to the chipset's capabilities)
-Your RSSI from a wifi analyzer app
-The number of other routers broadcasting SSIDs on the same Wi-Fi channels as you (WiFi Analyser will tell you this)

Additionally...
That "300mbps" is the theoretical max between you and the router.
Not you and the outside world.

What is the speed you pay your ISP for?

Im not sure exactly what my parents pay for but I do know that when I run the speed test from the same website on one of their laptops in the room with the router I get 100 Mbps if that helps you

I downloaded the wifi analyzer app from the Microsoft store and it shows 3 other networks, one is my neighbors, a 2G network, and another 5G network. Not too sure what the RSSI is so I don't know what I'm looking for in the analyzer

The only test that counts is if you are wired directly to the router, via ethernet cable.

You seeing 20mbps in "your room" is entirely possible.
How far away from the router are you? What rooms are in between?

Now that I think about it I am quite far away from the router, there are quite a few rooms in between me and the router

Then seeing 20mbps is totally understandable.
I can see a 20% difference just walking down the hall upstairs.
