Really struggling to open any port on this router . Running Windows 7.

Have entered Local IP Address, Protocol as tcp, Local Port 80 , Public Port 80.

I've tried several ports 2340 etc, and each time i check the port ,entering the router ip address, it comes up as closed.

This is for the final stage of a kodi/alexa skill set up so very frustrating!

Can anyone suggest a surefire way to open a port?, any port will do!

Solution
I would be very careful trying to use port 80. ISP commonly block this because people setup web servers and do not know what they are doing. The bad guys on the internet take the server over and use it for illegal things many times.

Port 80 is scanned and attacked much more often than other ports. I would use some random 4 digit number for your ports. You still need to properly protect the server but it will reduce the number of attack attempt you get because they must first scan all the ports on your network to find it.

Cheers Alabalcho, yes i am, it starts 90.252 etc under dsl connection and internet ip address.Only other options are dns ip addresses.

Where/how can i check the wan/adsl port address?, i don't see this listed?

Any port number you could suggest for the forwarding that would be a safe bet?

You may have to talk to your ISP what ports are available. Where did you get this "90.252.xxx.yyy" address from, wasn't it from your router status page?
I don't own your router, I can't tell you where to look. But on most routers, there is "Status" page with all this information listed.

Some ISP might block (willingly or not) all or some incoming ports.

Got it set up as 8080 now is that any more secure!

That is not as common but that is a well known web server port also. Something not commonly used...8097 would be better.
