I'm interested in reinstalling Windows 7 after a MB upgrade. Ive come to the point of installing where it gets stuck at the classic CD/DVD driver thing regarding Win7 and USB 3.0 but trouble is it doesn't fix it to put the bootable USB in a 2.0. It seems that the MB picks up my USB drive just fine since i can choose it in the bootmenu on startup. But Windows doesn't seem to recognize 3.0 not 2.0. I'm completely lost right now

Solution
This is because on new systems (Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake, Ryzen) all USB ports 2.0 and 3.0) look like USB 3.0 from software point of view.

To solve "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing" problem, you need to integrate USB 3.0 drivers into Windows 7 setup image.
For example, using FlashBoot 3.0

If the "use USB 2.0, not 3.0" doesn;t work, it typically means you need to provide the SATA/RAID driver, found on the motherboard vendors site.

Download it, extract it and put it on the USB (alongside the OS, or on a secondary USB). Then, when you reach the "driver missing" stage of the install, browse for it and download the file you put on the USB. It should load the driver in and allow you to continue with the install.

New MB is a Z370 with a Coffee Lake however i read into and people are having compatibility problems. It seems that i will have to update to Win 10 even after loving Win 7 like no other OS
