I have all my games in a separate HHD (1TB) and my OS is on a 500GB SSD. I want to move everything on the 1TB drive to a 4TB drive without mounting the 4TB in the computer yet. I have a powered Seagate external desktop USB 3.0 dock that I want to use to do the clone, but Acronis will not clone the drive. Any help, suggestions, etc. will be gratefully accepted. I will be mounting the 4TB in the computer but don't want to mess with the cables at this time. My OS is Win7 64 bit.

Thanks in advance.

1. Your comment that Acronis "will not clone the drive." is useless information. Acronis is a tried-and-true disk-cloning program. Detail PRECISELY what occurred during the d-c operation. Error message(s)? What?

2. You're absolutely sure you've properly connected the source & destination drives during the d-c operation?

3. You're absolutely sure both the source & destination drives are non-defective? You've tested the health of each with a diagnostic program?

4. You're absolutely sure the USB external device is non-defective and properly connected?

I appreciate your response. I am NOT sure of any of the above at this time. I do know that I have used the desktop dock to check the 4TB drive and have used it to format the drive. The source drive is not defective as I use it to game every day. I will go back and re-try everything I did before, including Acronis, and will post any error messages here. It might take a few days due to personal issues.

I kind of wanted to avoid doing that at this time because I'm looking to upgrade my PC in the near future-new CPU, mobo, RAM, etc. I just wanted to get a jump on transferring my games to a bigger drive. I'll still try to get more info for you by the weekend.

Once again, I appreciate your help.
