ASUS H87-PRO not seeing ASM106x PCIe SATA card

On my Windows 10 x64 box, the SATA ports on my ASUS H87-PRO motherboard are full, so I'm attempted to add an inexpensive PCIe expansion card to get two more.

I purchased an SSU-SATA3-T2 board based on the ASM1061 chip, as seen here:
http://www.ssu-tech.com/index.php?ac=article&at=read&did=127

I've installed it in Slot 1, which ASUS describes as a "PCIe 2.0 x1_1 slot."

I don't see any sign that the system recognizes the board--it doesn't appear in the BIOS in any way I can detect, doesn't reveal itself during POST, and doesn't appear in Device Manager at all.

The SATA configuration in the BIOS is "RAID" (as opposed to "AHCI") and needs to stay that way, because I have two mirrored data drives.

I've installed what I hope are the right ASMedia 106x drivers, but they don't appear to make any difference, which doesn't shock me, since the card doesn't appear in Device Manager.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Edit:
I temporarily pulled my USB 3.0 expansion board from Slot 5, which ASUS describes as a "PCIe 2.0 x16_2 slot (at x4 mode, compatible with PCIe x1 and x4 devices)," and put the SATA board there. When I booted, it appeared in Device Manager, and it functions.

So, my somewhat-new question is: How might I get this board working in Slot 1 ("PCIe 2.0 x1_1 slot")? Or is that impossible for some PCIe reason that escapes me?

Solution
Solved! It turns out that in the BIOS, 4x bandwidth was assigned to Slot 5, which disables Slot 1. I've now assigned 2x bandwidth to each slot, and all is good. I hope this saved someone else a couple hours of struggle.
