So I ran an endurance test for my CS1311 PNY 120 GB SSD using Anvils Storage Utilities, when the test first started, my SSD has a write speed if about 140 MBPS which is slower than the 510 MBPS advertised. After about 500 files created, it starts to slow down drastically. It slows down to the point if having only 46 MBPS write speed. (Also the files created per run is 20 so reaching 500 files takes about 1 min only) is this a faulty SSD or is it something else? My SSD is 65% filled.

Solution
Just to check, I have a Samsung Laptop which I added a Samsung 850 EVO and I wasn't getting the expecting results (about 80MBps Write against 500MBps advertised). So I've installed the Intel Rapid Storage Driver and it went up to expected values.

If you have an intel based PC, check if you have the Intel Rapid Storage Driver installed.

Best Regards.

never ever do a endurance test on your SSD. youre basically killing your drive. the following things may have happened during that :
* SSD normal behaviour. some SSDs esp like the samsung evo. will have a "burst moment" where the write speed is very fast coz of teh "memory cache" which was first written to and then after thats exceeded the actual speed comes to play. i forgot the exact terms but thats as layman as i can be.
* SSDs will lose its performance as free space starts to dwindle. i dont know exactly the performance benchmarks/specifications on the PNY drives so i cant say anything else on that matter.
* worst case. P/E cycles were overexhausted or overheated your SSD to the point of damaging the hardware. if you werent keeping tabs on the temps of your SSD, youre asking for trouble to happen

next time just do a "AS SSD benchmark" or "CrystalDiskMark" tools if you wanted to know the performance of your drive.

make sure you ahve the latest SSD firmware and also drivers/BIOS for your mobo as well to get the most out of your SSD.

Ah, that must be the reason, my temps are always on check 24/7 and they are always the same. At least that's what HD Sentinel told me, I've never turned off my laptop also so it keeps running. Also, I know that endurance tests on SSDs will wear them out but I'm not too worried since I've only written about 15TB worth of data (not from endurance test only) and I expect 200+ more TB out of this SSD, or less since it's a cheap entry class SSD.
