Hey guys,

I currently have an option between 2 models of a laptop and the only difference is the storage. The difference in price is $148 ($108 USD) I'll be using the laptop for school. Will a 128gb ssd be enough storage with Windows 10 installed and considering the whole 'it's best to only use about 60% of an ssd'

Just wondering if this will be enough and if anyone has any problems they think I will encounter if I go with the lower storage version.

If you are wondering the laptop is an Acer Swift 3.

Thanks for you time.

I personally recommend to go with the 128GB version. Windows, office and browser fits onto it. I do not know what further programs you are planning to install, you can check the system requirements for disk place to make sure.
Might you later on need more than 128 GB the SSD can be replace by removing a few screws, and it is usually cheaper to upgrade yourself.

128GB isn't much considering Windows 10 takes about 30GB once all updates, motherboard drivers, video drivers are installed.
So knowing you get 100GB left (minus the bloatware you will get with any pc but that can be removed.)

I would say 256GB drive, but if your only doing office work on it, you might be able to get away with 128GB, keeping your documents and presentations files on a remote drive/external drive/usb drive.

So if I had Windows 10, Office 365, no games and just a folder of documents (mostly word and PDF files) Would you still suggest a 256gb ssd?

Thank you for the replies.

If this is maximum you're ever gonna want to do on your laptop, then I guess, you could manage with 128GB drive.
