Hi, I can currently run the game (1st one, not TW:W 2) on lowest settings 1920x1080 on Crossfire 2x Radeon HD 5770, but I wonder if a GPU upgrade is worth it for my system. Wouldn't wanna spend more than $100-$150.

My system:
- ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard
- AMD Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition Heka Triple-Core 2.8 GHz Socket AM3 95W HDZ720WFK3DGI Processor - OEM (4th core enabled, Oced to 3.4 GHz thru CCC)
- 12GB RAM
- 2x Radeon HD 5770 Crossfired
- SAMSUNG 850 PRO 2.5" 128GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-7KE128BW
- SAMSUNG 850 EVO SSD 500 GB

The R9 270 seems to be what keeps popping up on my searches

Thanks in advance for your help!

Looked a little more and found that by unlocking the core you end up with a X4 955

I believe that my original estimate was correct, the CPU will bottleneck the GTX 1060-3GB to some degree. I think you would still see a performance improvement over the GTX 1050 Ti but in my opinion not enough to justify the extra hundred dollars. And because of the high demand for GPU's these days a bottom end GTX 1050 Ti is $225 while the GTX 1060-3GB starts at $325.

Thanks for your answer.
I believe my MB is limited to PCIe 2.0 x16, and those cards are PCIe 3.0. Would I be better off getting a PCIe 2.0 card instead then?

Thanks, sounds good.
I don't mind going a bit over budget if the performance will be worth it... What if I upped my budget to 200-250? Would you say GTX 1060 3GB? Would there be bottleneck issues?

It is a little hard to estimate the performance of the 720 so it is hard to make a call. I suspect that the CPU will bottleneck the GPU. If you went to the 3DMark website and benched your current build we can better assess the performance of the CPU. The performance of the 1060 will be significantly better than either the 1050 or the 1050 Ti.

Thank you very much, you've been very helpful.
I am really shocked at how these prices are hiked up... should I wait it out and see if they go down? Guess I picked a really bad time to buy a GPU :((

Yeah, gamers are really peeved right now because of the insane pricing due to crypto-mining. 6 months ago you could get a GTX 1050 Ti for $130. NVidia is actually trying to take control of the situation by restricting the number GPU's that an individual can buy.

As far as when will we return to normal it is really hard to predict. But I do think we might start to see a softening in the prices in the next couple of months. With the recent downturn in crypto-currency values it does not seem as lucrative as it once was and it is getting harder and harder to mine coins as there are fewer to find.
