Is this Nvidia 980M compatible with my Alienware 17 R1?

Think there is a DIY setup you can use, called eGPU i think. I can't remember exact details. But for 100 euro's, some cables, a makeshift dock you can pop in a GPU that you may have already had.

It's a combo of a riser card that connects with the express card on your lappie. I saw one running with a 1050ti, and it worked a treat. Your CPU is a decent one, and would drive a whole host of cards through that setup.

The GPU for the 2014 Alienware 17 R1 is not soldered on.

Are there other external GPU docks other than the Alienware specific one that will work with my laptop? I think I have a USB-C port.
