While playing games on my PC, there are occasional lag spikes. These lag spikes are quite intense,
in overwatch, going from 110fps to about 5fps. I haven’t noticed a heating problem and the issue persists after applying thermal paste. The lag goes away when I double tap the windows home key on my keyboard.

usually driver/software related.
install afterburner and play for 10-15min, the look at the graphs for gpu/cpu temp, just to check.

if thats ok, turn on triple buffer and vsync to use app setting, set pre rendered frames to 2, crank up graphic settings ingame to max.

If that doesnt help, download DDU cleaner.
uninstall all gpu related software and drivers..
reboot.
run DDU, check all boxes in the options relating to nvidia/monitor incl removing folders.
reboot into safemode (thru ddu) and clean the pc.
reboot and install latest gpu driver in custom mode and unselect 3D related software.
reboot and install DirectX (google).

can of compressed air, or take it to a local car shop, they can use the compressor.
don't use a vacuum, they produce shit load of static.
see if you can remove the fans, so they can blow the rad clean.

make sure its not a broken pump (check rpm signal in bios),
as thats an issue with asetek based AIO (like the corsairs).
