Hi guys, I am planning to buy a MSI b350 tomahawk mobo, I'm just wondering if I need to update the bios after purchasing it?, or is it already up to date? Newbie in computer stuffs sorry..

Solution
If the system doesn't boot up when you press the power button and you're sure everything is connected properly, then it MIGHT need a BIOS update. But if you get a processor that is listed on the CPU Support List with the first BIOS version and you get a RAM kit that's listed on the RAM support list, and your connect everything properly (read the motherboard user manual), it should boot up the first time and ask for an OS installation.

Generally speaking, motherboards that have been sitting on store shelves or in a warehouse somewhere does not have the latest BIOS installed. Whether or not you should update the BIOS depends on if a later version BIOS specifically states it resolves an issue you are experiencing; the line of thinking being, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
