I need to charge 6 AA Rechargeable batteries at once in series.

what are the power requirements of charging. If I wanted to charge them with a homemade charger, what would be the requirements.
5v 2A?

Depends how fast you want/need them to charge...

This seems like a bad idea, given that you don't seem to know what you're doing and charging batteries incorrectly can damage them, or even cause them to overheat/explode.

That is why I am asking. I do not care about the charging speed, as long as they charge. I am testing in a safe environment using protected parts (not some DIY wall wart). Thanks for the concern though.

They will be NiMH batteries. I might as well try. I won't lose anything except maybe a power strip (worst case) or a wall wart. Can I set it to 3 Amperes?

Yes I have considered buying one but what is the fun in that?

Yes I am planning to use wall warts/DC converters. I have around 70 and I have one with a petentiometer on it (I don't think it counts as a power Supply though). I also currently have a solar Panel on the back of my crusty old iPhone 5. Waiting to upgrade to android.
