system_service_exception atikmdag.sys BSOD problem

Several times I've had a BSOD with a system_service_exception (atikmdag.sys) error. I've looked at answered threads with this problem and not found a solution. I've run AMD's Autodetect Driver tool and it says I'm using the most updated drivers.

System details follow:
Windows 8.1 64-bit
HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC
Processor: AMD A4-6210 APU with AMD Radeon R3 Graphics
 
Pavilion 17 Notebook PC - Looks like an incomplete model number.

I suggest you use HP Support Assistant and drivers specifically listed for your model. Drivers should come from HP. Do not use AMD's Autodetect Driver tool and drivers that are not from HP.

That's the system model I pulled off dxdiag. I don't know about a model number, but the system board is 226A 73.37 and the product number is J9M06UAR#ABA.

I don't use HP Support Assistant because it's about as useful as a five year old with a product catalog. I opened it on your suggestion and found nothing that might help.
