AMD Radeon R7 GPU

Hey guys, so I just bought a Dell Inspiron 5576. I am running Windows 10, the processor is an AMD FX-9830P (7th Gen), my GPU is an AMD Radeon R7, and I have 12 GB of RAM. So this sounded to me like the perfect gaming PC for the price ($720), but when I started up PUBG I was barely pumping out 30 FPS on Medium Graphics. Every website is saying that this graphics card is really nice for gaming and same with the CPU, but I can't seem to get the frames that I want. I didn't overclock or adjust anything within the GPU or CPU when I started up the laptop yesterday, I just went straight to gaming. So if anyone has any pointers or advice on how to get this most out of this setup that'd be great. Keep in mind I am brand new to PC Gaming. Thanks

Don't those Inspiron laptops come with a dedicated video chip above and beyond the R7 that's integrated into the processor? Specifically, the RX560, which should perform better than the R7.

Seems to be, according to this page: http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/inspiron-15-5000-gaming/spd/inspiron-15-5576-gaming-laptop

That said, PUBG is a poorly optimized game. But, even with games that have been optimized well, the RX560 provides maybe low or moderate detail settings for 1080p gaming at decent FPS.

I think there's some display setting or something that will tell the laptop whether to use the R7 integrated into the CPU, or to use the RX560 graphics. You'd probably want the latter for gaming, and, I suppose the former...

Yeah it uses two separate graphics cards but I don't know which one it uses and when. I can optimize both under the AMD program that came downloaded with the computer but I feel like I'm doing something wrong. All the reviews and videos I have watched show this laptop performing really well under medium to high graphics settings.

If you run a utility like MSI Afterburner while you game it'll show you onscreen which GPU is being used. PUBG is not a good game to judge performance by, it's tough on hardware. Not only that, but it runs better on Nvidia cards. A 560, best case, is a low settings card in PUBG assuming you want decent framerate.

Try testing your performance on a non game benchmark, or at least on a better optimized game. That will give you a more accurate idea of how your computer is doing.
