Hi guys,

So today I had just finished installing a new SSD into my PC, putting everything back together and switching the power back on.

However, after plugging the power socket back into the lead and pressing the power button, the PC very briefly turned on but almost immediately turned off. After attempting to press the power button again, I now get no power/response whatsoever.

I opened my PC back up after this to try and find an issue, and noticed that a small white light on my graphics card is staying on, but nothing else is giving me any form of light to tell me it's okay. I have also reseated each stick of RAM and have determined that there is no issue there.

Is there the possibility that one or more of my parts have shorted after plugging everything back in, more specifically the PSU or the motherboard?

Thanks very much in advance for the responses.

EDIT: I must also quickly mention that no noise could be heard when my PC shut off, if that helps at all with anything. Cheers.

Solution
manually short the power pins, the switch itself may be stuck/broken.
use a conductor (I prefer a slotted or flat-head screwdriver - depending on the local vernacular) and briefly touch the two power pins that the switch connect to.
a brief touch should start the PC and if it starts the switch is fouled and should be replaced.
if it still will not start that points to the motherboard or the power supply as the next likely suspects.

Quick update: I tried unplugging the power cable at the back of the unit itself and then plugging it back in, after which my PC now powers on as normal. I feel like a massive idiot for not first trying both ends out before coming here but I'm happy to have life. I've left it running for a good ten minutes in idle and so far, so good.

Regardless, thank you guys very much for the extremely swift responses. I appreciate it a lot and hopefully this sees the end of my problems!
