Hey guys,

I'm planning to buy a new ssd, and I've been searching around and found that my motherboard (gb z170x gaming 3) does handle m.2 pcie x4 ssd in AHCI mode and RAID mode (this is in the manual: https://imgur.com/a/m1OLq).

From what i know, this motherboard should be able to handle a Western Digital Black NVMe ssd, i'm right? Will the speeds of the ssd be affected by AHCI?

Thanks

No problem, the mobo supports nvme: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z170X-Gaming-3-rev-10#ov. The M2A slot will support PCIe x4. AHCI is just the drive protocol that is used - no effect on max speeds since the bios and windows 10 support nvme drives.
